Staying at Drovers Cottage

Built in the late 1700’s as an extension to the bastle house at Harnham, the grade two listed Drovers cottage enjoys stunning views of the Monastery lake and Northumbrian landscape. It still forms part of the original Harnham Hall Estate, this charismatic county cottage is a perfect base to explore from.

Tastefully decorated and furnished with antiques and vintage finds, Drovers can sleep up to four, with the option of twins or a super king in the attic room and a kingsize bed in the main bedroom.

At the end of a hard day’s exploring take a soak in the roll top bath, kickback and relax in front of the wood burner then tuck yourself into the crisp Egyptian cotton bedding for a good night’s sleep.

Wifi, Electric, central heating and gas for the BBQ, bed linen and towels are included in the price of your stay as well as a starter pack for the log burner. Smart TV will require your own sign in for Netflix and Prime. Please only use wood provided by us, which is purchased with an honesty system from the log store.

Private space for three cars is provided at no extra cost.

Ground Floor:

Opening from the stone flagged main entrance hall is a perfectly appointed bespoke kitchen with everything you will need for your self-catering holiday.

To the right of the entrance hall is a convenient downstairs W/c

If you like a room that gives you a big hug, look no further than Drovers living room. You can cosy up in front of the log burner and inglenook fireplace in a luxurious Georgian wingback chair while enjoying the panoramic views through the huge restored sash windows. The dining table and the quirky library alcove with a small selection of books to choose from can also be found in this room.

First Floor:

On the first floor, sleeping accommodation comprises a spacious light and airy bedroom with king size bed, a stunning example of a Georgian stone fireplace and beautiful dual aspect views. A large family bathroom with claw foot bath and over shower, heated towel rail, W/c and hand basin can also be found on this floor.

Up to the next floor is the quirky attic room with stunning exposed stone walls. This room can be configured with either a super king bed or twins depending on your requirements. The attic room does have reduced headroom.

From the garden at Drovers you can enjoy far reaching views of the surrounding countryside and the monastery lake. A large lawned area with dry stone walls benefits from an outdoor dining area, gas bbq and lockable cycle store as well as a gravelled section with ample parking for up to 3 cars.

Wowee, what a fantastic place to stay! The cottage was absolutely beautiful, immaculate and so homely.  The location, wonderful. Picturesque and peaceful. We can’t recommend staying here enough.  From the gorgeous interior, comfy beds and cosy wood burning fire, to the fresh hens’ eggs, home baking and luxury bath soak welcome gift; it really was the perfect retreat.
